Peace and Awe

Peace and Awe

I should probably go and let you sleep
But I open my eyes and I feel at peace
Your weightless breath moving your tiny chest
In a rhythm so steady and sweet.

I can’t freeze this night or your peaceful glow
But between all the missteps I hope you know
I’ll try to do better with each blessed day
And with this, together we’ll grow.

May Grace be the force that drives me to steer
And courage be not the absence of fear
For your light is a gift that this world needs to feel
So I promise not to hold it too near.

Perfection is not a goal to be met
And decisions are not to be made to regret
For every step forward no matter how small
Is a catch in your butterfly net.

So keep dreaming and growing in all that you do
Whatever your vision my you see it through
I’ll never forsake, asleep or awake
In awe of the all awesome you.
